Arcon Welding Services Training Center opens

Arcon Welding Equipment has opened the new Arcon Welding Services Training Center.

This center has been made possible through cooperation and a grant from the Maryland Energy Administration. The partnership includes:

Arcon Welding Equipment, LLC, Wor-Wic Community College, Quality Staffing Services and the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance.

The training center is the first facility of its kind on the Lower Eastern Shore and is intended to serve local businesses and the local workforce population.

The goals of the new facility are diverse and include:

To have a local, skilled and experienced welding workforce ready and available in advance of the emerging opportunities of the Maryland offshore wind project.

To provide local existing and new businesses a qualified pool of skilled welders for all types of fabrication or construction needs.

To provide new career path opportunities for the local long-term unemployed and adult workforce.

Located at 2028 Northwood Drive in Salisbury, this is a full-service advanced welding training school employing AWS certified instructors and AWS sanctioned curriculum.

The most up-to-date welding equipment, from several different manufacturers is being made available for the hands-on portion of the training curriculum.

Stick, TIG and MIG welding will be taught, along with cutting, grinding and jobsite safety.

The facility has eight, fully equipped, welding booths as well as [2]-Lincoln, VRTEX advanced welding simulators.

These are computer based, virtual reality, welding simulators, designed to supplement and enhance traditional welding training methods.
