Cathy Townsend takes reins as 2017 Chamber Chair

Dr. Cathy Townsend was sworn in Thursday at the 2017 Chairwoman of the Board of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce.

A lifelong educator, Townsend is the current Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services for the Wicomico County Board of Education.

In her address to Chamber members, held at Black Diamond Lodge, Townsend promised to focus on improving communication among the Chamber leaders and members, while also preserving the group’s superior ranking among all Chambers in the nation.

Chris Eccleston of Delmarva Veteran Builders was sworn in as the Chamber board’s Chairman-Elect.

More than 100 Chamber members were on hand also to thank Kim Gillis for her service as Chamber Chair. The Senior Associate at Becker Morgan Group will now step into the role of Immediate Past Chairwoman of the Board.

Townsend is the 80th Board Chair in the Chamber’s 96-year history, dating back to Fred P. Adkins in 1920.
