A Fruitland man was in critical condition at Peninsula Regional Medical Center after a motorcycle accident Sunday night, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said a motorcycle operated by Rodney Earl Jarvi II was stopped on Beaglin Park Drive around 8 p.m. for a traffic violation.

The motorcycle sped northbound past the deputy at Beaglin Park Drive and Outten Road, and turned right through a red light onto Zion Road, deputies said.

The motorcycle continued east on Zion Road toward Forest Plains Lane.

The deputy who stopped the motorcycle said he was approximately a half-mile behind it when he spotted a cloud of white dust at Zion Road and Zion Church Road.

Jarvi was in ditch and the motorcycle was about 20 feet away in a field. Jarvi was taken to PRMC.

Maryland State Police are investigating.
