Three men arrested in Fruitland teen’s murder

Three men have been arrested and charged with the murder of 17-year-old Rakim Lamont Russell, who was killed in Salisbury early Sunday morning.

Jarrett Vaughn Stokes and Ky’Shir Tariq Connally, both 18 and from Delmar, and Larry Allen Lamar Ennis, 20 of Salisbury, were each charged with first-degree murder and related crimes, according to a news release issued by Mayor Jim Ireton’s office.

Stokes and Connally were arrested Tuesday evening in separate locations near Delmar and taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center where they are being held without bond, the news release states.

Ennis was arrested in Dover around 4 this afternoon by the fugitive task force. He waived extradition and will be transported to Wicomico County.

Russell, of Fruitland, was shot in the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn as he left a party just after midnight Sunday.

Police investigators said they believe men who were involved in an earlier fight at the party returned and fired multiple shots into a crowd that had gathered in the parking lot.

Russell was hit once and died a short time later at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the news release states.

Investigators are still looking for witnesses, and police are urging parents whose children attended the party to talk to them and contact police with any information.
