Wicomio ‘Most Wanted’ suspect returned from Ohio

One of Wicomico County’s “Most Wanted” has been returned to Salisbury for prosecution.

Gary Richard Hurwitz, 56, of Princess Anne, was transported on Tuesday from Patuxent Institution, where he was being held following his extradition from Ohio.

Hurwitz, who officials have accused of theft, had fled to that state.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Hurwitz is accused of arranging delivery of construction materials to a purchaser, accepting payment for the product, then telling the supplier he would pay the supplier at a later date. Hurwitz allegedly pocketed this money and it never found its way to the supplier.

Deputies said Hurwitz also stands accused of arranging delivery of asphalt millings to a purchaser and accepting payment for the product. Hurwitz, deputies said, then ignored all attempts of the supplier of the asphalt millings to collect on the bill.

Hurwitz was taken to the Central Booking Unit, where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Hurwitz on Personal Recognizance on these charges.
