Woman charged with intimidating jury member

A 51-year-old Salisbury woman was arrested after being charged with intimidating a juror, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Valerie Rovin was charged after a complaint from a member of the Wicomico County jury pool, the deputy said.

The deputy said the incident stemmed from June 16, when Lauren Bailey, Rovin’s daughter, was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while suspended by a jury in Circuit Court. She received a jail sentence.

The deputy said the foreman of the jury, at his place of employment, was confronted about the verdict.

The deputy said verbal abuse was reported, as well as a threat that people were going to “take care of him.” The deputy said the words were understood to be tantamount to a death threat.

A warrant was issued for Rovin’s arrest, the deputy said.
