Long, slow goodbye for old Salisbury Times building

Contractors for Peninsula Regional Medical Center have been systematically disassembling the old Daily Times building on East Carroll Street.

The land was site of Camp Upton in the Civil War, as well as Salisbury High School in the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s.

The city of Salisbury received a Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund grant to raze the building. State of the art when it opened in 1957, the building was formerly owned by Gannett Co. Inc., which sold it to PRMC in 2008 for $1.8 million.
