Photo Gallery: City dedicates Butch Walker Way


The city of Salisbury, Mayor Jake Day and Wicomico County Public Schools all participated last Friday in an honorary renaming of Long Avenue for Wi-Hi coach Butch Waller.

For 52 years Butch Waller has been Head Coach of the Wi-Hi Boys Basketball Team.

This past season Coach Waller passed the 800 career wins mark, and currently holds the Maryland record of 805 Career Victories making him  the All-Time Winningest Boys Basketball Coach in Maryland Public School History.

Waller has coached Wi-Hi to win 21 Regional Championships.

The 21 State Final Four Appearances is the most of any Bayside Conference School in Boys Basketball, and is the 2nd most in Maryland Boys Basketball History.

Waller’s teams made 5 Championship Game Appearances with the 2002 Wi-Hi team winning the Maryland Class 2A State Championship in which they completed the perfect season at 28-0.

Butch Waller has impacted thousands of students during his time as a Physical Education Teacher, Baseball Coach, Golf Coach and 52 seasons as Basketball Coach at Wicomico High School.
