The Salisbury University field hockey team knew it was in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament thanks to the team’s double-overtime win in the Capital Athletic Conference championship game on Saturday.

What the Sea Gulls did not know was who they would face in their first game of the tournament, and when that would take place.

Those questions were answered Monday morning, when the Sea Gulls found out they would travel to Ursinus College for a four-team regional, and will take on either Misericordia University or the University of Rochester (N.Y.) in their second-round game on Saturday, following a first-round bye.

The berth in the NCAA tournament is the 31st for Salisbury University and the 21st in a row.

Saturday’s second-round game will begin at 2 p.m., after Ursinus plays the first-round winner between Stevens Institute of Technology and Mount Holyoke College, at 11 a.m. The two first-round contests, will be played on Wednesday, November 11.

Salisbury and its potential second-round opponents have each met once before. The Sea Gulls topped Misericordia earlier this year, 3-0, at the Misericordia Invitational. Salisbury and Rochester got together in the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament, with the Yellowjackets getting the 3-2 victory.

The winners from Saturday’s games will meet on Sunday, with the victor advancing to the NCAA semifinals next Saturday, Nov. 21, in Lexington, Va.
