Amphitheater skating rink will open this Friday

Folks skate when the Downtown ice rink was in Salisbury City Park. This year it will be erected at the Downtown Amphitheater.

Holiday Ice Skating will return again this year to the Pohanka Riverwalk Amphitheater in Downtown Salisbury.

The skating rink will open on Black Friday, Nov. 29, and will run until Dec. 22.

The rink will be open for skating every weekend, Thursday to Sunday.

Join in on the fun Thursdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to 8 p.m.

The Salisbury community is invited to enjoy scenic views of the Wicomico River while skating on the tented ice rink throughout the holiday season.

Skaters can bring their own ice skates and skate for free or pay $5 to rent a pair. In addition, this year, for the first time, the ice rink will be fully enclosed in a temperature-controlled tent.

The rink will also be available for rent for parties.

The city of Salisbury is searching for volunteer groups to staff the ice rink. By participating, volunteers have the opportunity to raise money for their group.

Volunteer groups will receive a compensation amount of $100, plus $2 per skate rental.
