Theater performance will be a part of this 3rd Friday

This week’s 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury is the last month hosted exclusively indoors, before the event moves back outside in April.

That means no artists and crafters outside on the street — but there is still tons to do and see inside.

This month’s highlights include a theater performance, two gallery shows and live entertainment.

Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, also known as SWAC, will be hosting the Community Players production of “Love, Loss and What I Wore.”

In celebration of International Women’s Month — the one act 90-minute play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covers all the important subjects, based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman.  Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the Community Players website.

Salisbury Art Space, located on the lower level of the SU Building, will be hosting Points of Juxtaposition:  A Gathering of African American Artists. This group show features work from 5 African American artists all from the Eastern Shore area, each with their own styles and points of view.  The show starts March 6 with an opening reception during 3rd Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown, also located in the SU Building, will have METHODS: 2019 Art Department Faculty Exhibition.

The exhibition focuses on how the creative process often mirrors the scientific method and how artists make observations of the world around them, conduct experiments and then analyze those creative risks to form a conclusion or finished piece.

The Charles H. Chipman Cultural Center will be hosting one of the bimonthly Laff n Jazz Lounge events, held every first and third Friday of every month.

The event starts at 7 p.m. and online tickets are only $20, and includes local talent, music, comedy, poetry, and food. This week will feature special musical guest Rochelle Denise, and special guest comedians, Joshua Dennison and Ms. Kym.

The Downtown restaurants have great specials and live entertainment planned for 3rd Friday.   Check out Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. for KT Tuminello’s Acoustic Dead and Such Tribute show.

Brew River will have live music from Pistol Whipped band. Then for late night, Mojo’s will have DJ E-State and Market Street will have DJ Vybe.

In honor of St Patrick’s Day, Barefoot Baby & Kids is having a Luck of the Irish Shopping Spree!  Shoppers can draw a mystery discount from a pot of gold, find items tagged with a lucky shamrock for an additional 10 percent off, and take 5 percent off anything green.

3rd Friday is a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District and the city of Salisbury. For More Information: 3rdFridaySby.com
