Though it’s indoors, 3rd Friday still offers fun

This week’s 3rd Friday celebration in Downtown Salisbury will be hosted indoors only — so that means no artists and crafters outside on the street — but there is still tons to do and see.

So bundle up, grab your friends, and head out for a night on the town.

Art lovers, be sure to stop by Salisbury Art Space for the opening reception of “Small Treasures: Book Art and Small Works” from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

This show is made up entirely of locally submitted 2D and 3D works no bigger than 14 inches, asking that viewers zoom in to behold the beauty that comes in small packages.

The ancient expression of book art will also be explored, from traditional to contemporary — come see examples of when the book is the art object complete with a special exhibit by local book artist and professor Sally Molenda.

Salisbury Art Space is located on the lower level of the Salisbury University Gallery Building.

Shoppers can check out Angello’s Scoops and Unique Gifts for fun gift ideas, and exciting ice cream flavors.

Simply Salisbury, SU’s Salisbury-themed gift shop is open until 7 p.m. with comfy sweats, and graphic hoodies for everyone in the family.

Oyster lovers should check out the all new Mogan’s Oyster House for oyster specials, and high-end dining options, right on Division Street across from First Shore Federal.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore is celebrating National Mentoring Month with a push for new mentors — with a goal of 50 new mentors by February.

Didn’t set a New Year’s resolution? Have you always thought about mentoring? Now is the time to start off the new decade with a new journey as a mentor to children facing adversity in our community.

Reach out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore to find out how you can apply today.

The Downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday.

Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill will have amazing food specials, plus live music by Bri Bryant from 6 to 9 p.m and The Bills from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Brew River will have live music by Dalton Elliott from 5 to 10 p.m. and karaoke late night.

Mojo’s and Market Street always have great specials on the menu, and DJs for the late-night crowd.
