Three are elected to Fruitland Council

One incumbent and two newcomers were elected to the Fruitland City Council on Monday.

Incumbent Darlene Kerr will be joined by Charles Nichols and Roland Palmer on the five-member council. The other members are Raymond Carey and Gloria Ortiz.

Only three candidates filed for the three seats up for grabs.

Richard “Lee” Outen Jr. left the council last summer; Edwin Cowell did not file to run again.

Palmer received the highest vote total with 58 ballots cast in his favor. Kerr received 45 votes in defending her seat. Nichols received 30 votes.

Kerr was elected council president, following Outen’s resignation June 10.

Fruitland’s City Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
