Wicomico Teacher Of The Year will be announced March 17

Wicomico County’s teacher of the year for 2016-2017 will be announced and honored at the annual banquet March 17.

There are 26 semifinalists, who will  be challenged in a public-speaking exercise called a fishbowl and interviewed by a blue ribbon panel of judges.

The new teacher of the year will represent the county in the Maryland Teacher of the Year recognition program.

The annual banquet, with more than 200 guests including dozens of outstanding teachers, will be at The Commons on the Salisbury University campus, beginning at 6 p.m.
